What exactly is metal stamping?

This is a process in which flat rolled steel is used to make drawn parts. This is a kind of metal processing and the parts in the process are formed mechanically or in a pre-determined form called die.

The parts that are produced in this process are from blanks. In this process, the sheet metal is pushed from a reel or single blanks, through multiple positions.

As a result of this process, parts of various shapes like circular, rectangular or a more complex shape can be formed.

Deep Drawn Pressing process Explained Simply

Materials Used
Most of the metal stamping manufacturers use; brass, aluminum, stainless steel, copper, and other metals are for deep drawn pressing process. The metal needs to be ductile so there’s’ no stress which might lead to weakness or cracks with the finished component

The Process
There’s a series of geometric dies created and installed on the press. A component is passed through the press and pressed into each die. Once completed the final shape is done. Usually 60 parts can be done in one minute.
Another type of process similar to deep drawn pressing is called progressive die pressing. This can only create shallow components however. These metal sheets are used instead of blanks. Progression pressing can create about 250 parts per minute.

When Are deep Drawn Pressing Components Used?
When you have large amounts of components to make then deep drawn pressing is a very affordable option to use. One you have installed the dies on the deep drawn press the processing of marking parts is mechanical in nature. You can reduce unit costs by about 85% when you use deep drawn pressing and nor parts that are done by regular machine pressing. This type of pressing is great for low retail price items when you need a very high level of items made.
